Greater Noida, September 29 ( Raghwendra Pratap Singh) :
The Forest Department’s outlet remained a center of attraction for young people throughout all 5 days of the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show. Even on the final day, young visitors continued to learn about the state’s wildlife and forest wealth up close. Information about various species of elephants, deer and snakes, along with trees such as teak, sheesham, babul, khair and arjun, made young people reflect that the state they had so far known for industry, investment and expressways is equally rich in nature.Sunaina, a student from Meerut, said she learned about the state’s forest wealth for the first time by visiting the Forest Department’s outlet at the trade show.
Learning about the 22 Van Dhan Kendras operating in Sonbhadra, Lalitpur, Lakhimpur and Bahraich was an entirely new experience for her. She said, “After coming here, we learned many things about our own state that we had not known about earlier.”Ojaswi from Noida said that while other outlets at the trade show were providing information about businesses and products, the Forest Department’s outlet connected her with nature. She said, “After coming here, I realized that our Uttar Pradesh is not just a state of industries and big cities. There is also such a vast world of wildlife and trees and plants here.”Ravi Kumar, a student from Meerut, said that trees such as babul, teak, khair and arjun can be seen around them, but he learned about their importance and conservation only after visiting the outlet.
He said that he would now look at the trees he sees every day from a different perspective.During the five-day exhibition, the forest wealth of the Meerut, Lucknow and Prayagraj regions was also presented in different ways. Young people learned that species such as babul, teak, khair, and arjun are found prominently in the Meerut region of western Uttar Pradesh, while other parts of the state show greater floral diversity. This provided young people an opportunity to understand the state’s geographical regions along with its floral diversity.Along with information about wildlife, visitors were also informed about the causes of forest fires and the damage caused by human negligence.
Young people learned that even a small mistake can damage forests and wildlife. Information was also provided about efforts to increase greenery through Van Mahotsav and plantation drives.Young people were also informed at the outlet about the plan to carry out plantation and develop green areas along both sides of the Ganga Expressway.
Along with this, efforts related to forest conservation, Van Mahotsav, and reducing the number of sawmills were also showcased.
